Hi Melissa,
Well when I had my first reading done, I couldn't believe how on track it really was.It helped me to stay focused and to follow my heart.I was told that I was going to be doing some indepth studying...4 months later I was studying to become a EMT.Something I never thought of doing. By the way I love being a EMT.

My very first tarot reading happened when I was 11 years old. My beautiful and older cousin had taken a class, and read for me with her RWS deck.
We decided that my card was the Queen of Cups, even though I was just a child.
I was completely enchanted, curious and asked her about what every card meant. I very much wanted a deck for my own.
Just last week, I had the opportunity to share my new deck creation with my cousin, and this time she was the one who was enchanted, and curious, and asked about every card!

Q: Tell me about your first experience having a tarot reading done for yourself. If you’ve never had your cards read, what has been holding you back?

A: My first and only reading was done by a very cute friend ;-) at her very cute house during a very cute Halloween party. I really wanted to ask her to read my cards but I was nervous because 1) I'd never done it before and 2) I didn't really know the scope of the question to ask, i.e., vague & broad or as specific as possible. I finally settled on a question that had to do with "What's next" for me, school/career-wise. She laid the cards out in the shape of the cardinal directions and explained why going--physically, spatially--in certain directions might be better than others. I loved the way she did this because it so directly translated to "real-life" advice. I was surprised by the suggestion that going West might not be the best idea--it would be "confusing", I think she said--because I have been considering a really amazing grad school in California. Because I am (perhaps inordinately?) superstitious, I can no longer think about moving to California for school without remembering that she advised against it. :-) I think that the advice about not going South was spot-on--she said, memorably, that if I go South she sees a pregnancy. The hyper-feminine card was laid in that position and it made sense: I'm from Georgia, that's where my family is, it would be easy to move there and settle down. But, of course, I'm far from ready for that. :-)

Her reading helped expand my thinking about these questions. It gave me a metaphysical perspective, one I hadn't thought too much about in the process of writing all those "Pro" and "Con" lists. The best part was how totally nonjudgmental she was--I felt completely comfortable asking, and musing about, anything. I hope to have another, more substantive, reading soon. :-)

My very first tarot reading was in high school. I don't remember much of it except my friend had gotten the Zerner-Farber deck and was doing reading for fun. I thought the deck was pretty, but I'm not sure if the reading was accurate or not. However, it did inspire me to go out and buy my own deck to try.

Well my first reading was..through ebay! I've been interested in tarot for a while but didn't know how to get a reading so i tried ebay but chose the wrong reader, it was an automatic reading that i could have found online, thankfully there are a lot of people, even on ebay that can be trusted

My first reading was years and years ago...by my mother and I was in awe of the whole process and waited in anticipation as each card was turned over.

My very first Tarot reading was done for me by a gal in Nashville, IN. years ago. It was terrible! She told me my husband was going to die before I did! I think she charged me $10 for the reading too! I have just recently started getting readings for myself again. I also read Tarot, for others, but can get to involved when I read for myself. I plan on getting more readings done in the future too. Everyone reads the cards differently, and this is a good thing! I learn alot just from having someone else read my cards.
